Bookmark Mobile App

Spring 2025

Bookmark is a native iOS app I designed and developed from the ground up to reimagine how we could track books and share their reading lives. Bookmark fills a gap in the book world: a social, joyful, thoughtfully-crafted space for discovering, organizing, and discussing books without ads or clutter.

Bookmark is about a shared and focused reading experience. Readers can follow friends, share what they’re reading, send book recommendations, and stay engaged with others' reading progress: like notifications when someone they follow starts or finishes a book to foster organic conversations and surface new titles from people you care about.

As the sole designer and developer, I crafted every part of the experience: product strategy, UX and visual design, app architecture, testing, and implementation in Swift using SwiftUI and CloudKit.

Social Reading

Follow friends and view their current reads, completions, and recommendations. Small social signals—like a new book added or a milestone reached—encourage interaction without overwhelming you with noise.

Track Progress

Every book in your library supports rich reading states. Mark books as “Currently Reading,” track your progress, and mark them complete to send them to your completed shelf. Jot down notes as you read or why a book is on your shelf.

Beautiful & Fast

Bookmark emphasizes fast interactions and thoughtful motion design, written entirely in Swift and built with SwiftUI. Transitions are smooth, animations feel natural, and every touch responds with crisp, responsive feedback.

No Ads. No Distractions.

Bookmark is intentionally ad-free. It’s a space focused on your books, your thoughts, and your community—not monetization. The design stays out of the way and supports your habits, not someone else’s revenue model.
